Carnivore is a host monitoring and reporting tool. Modelled after the Big Brother system, but intended to be a more reliable real-time reporting tool (We've found that BB doesn't tend to scale very well above 50 or so monitored hosts), Carnivore is a multi-part system. The Monitoring side of the tool runs as its own system process, utilising a JDBC database connection as its configuration source and reporting log.
The Management side of the system is a Nexus module, allowing both HTTP and Nexus access to the system.
Carnivore is currently in a 1.0 stable release, providing Ping, SMTP, POP3, FTP, SSH, and HTTP monitoring. The Reporting frontend for the system is currently implemented in php4.
